I bought this receiver to replace a really old Sony receiver. Once out of the box, it was very self explanatory on how to connect components to the pre-labeled HDMI inputs (and there are 8 of them!!). I have yet to purchase a 7.1 speaker system so it was very easy to connect my two (2) stereo speakers. I have this connected to a 60" Vizio LED and controlling the receiver from the OSD on the Vizio is awesome! The ability to upscale older components that do not offer HDMI (Nintendo Wii for example) if a big plus! Overall, I love this center piece to my home media center! I cannot wait to purchase a nice set of 7.1 speakers to go with it! I recommend this unit to all my family and friends!
